Sandra LaMorgese’s life trajectory, and her experience of her boudoir shoot, is the embodiment of this blog’s mission. She’s glorious proof that mature women are vital, sensual, sexual beings capable of transforming their lives at a stage when the traditionalist culture tells us we’re “over.” Sandra’s story echoes Eleanor Roosevelt’s clarion call to every woman who doubts herself: “you must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
At the age of 55, I decided to step out of my box from being a Holistic Practitioner to being a Professional Dominatrix and Fetishist. At the time, I was convinced that this switch was an improbability due to my age. However, as ridiculous as it all sounded to me, I felt this experience would empower me personally and professionally, and help me get in touch with my sexuality.
Surprisingly, upon entering the subculture of BDSM, I soon discovered that my mature image, confidence, life experience, and “chill” were not a detriment to my success — in fact, my mature attributes were beneficial.
My feeling is, women are beautiful and and sexy at every age and every stage of life. Was it effortless for me to get comfortable looking at revealing photographs of myself over 50? No, it was not. I had to change my thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about what is beautiful, sexy, and desirable to me. Once that happened, I was like, “I got this!”
