When photographer Steve Jones contacted me and expressed an interest in doing boudoir shoots with mature women, I thought immediately of Madelyn Altman, a 60-year-old woman who I featured in my Boomer Boudoir Babe series. Madelyn had enjoyed her first boudoir shoot so much that she wanted to do another one — and she also happens to live in the same city as Steve.
These stunning photos are the result of her recent shoot with Steve. It’s hard to tell which is more exquisite: Madelyn’s luminosity or Steve’s ability to capture it. I’m thrilled that they let me post these pictures and I take full credit for their partnership! Lucky for us, they’re planning an ongoing collaboration.
Below are Madelyn’s thoughts on the experience.
I wasn’t planning on a second boudoir shoot until photographer Steve Jones and I connected through Erica’s blog. Through a stroke of great fortune, we live about five minutes apart.
I love these photos. I’m proud of the strength and maturity in my face and body. We’re planning another photo shoot for retakes, new posts, and lighting. I can hardly wait! I’m thinking about listing “lingerie modeling” as a hobby on my OkCupid profile.
Here’s Steve’s favorite photo from the shoot — and his thoughts about his experience collaborating with Madelyn.
I found Erica’s blog through Huffington Post and e-mailed her to comment on the “Boomer Boudoir Babe” photos and how great I thought they were. Being 60, and having shot artistic nudes and boudoir photos on occasion, as well as my corporate work, the photos made me think about body image and how someone as an “image maker” — me — affects these perceptions.
Erica connected me with Madelyn, who, in amazing coincidence, lives close by. As Madelyn and I talked about shooting I felt nervous because I really wanted to create something that made a statement about how we perceive older women and, hopefully, challenge those perceptions. I’m really pleased and proud that we accomplished some degree of that and can continue to collaborate.
Oh, and it was a hell of a lot of fun, too!
